Description
A Larger Yes | Poetry as Vessel of Discovery, Mindfulness, Expansion and Engagement
A Presentation and Reading by Jane Hirshfield.
In this special session, poet Jane Hirshfield will explore both her own poems and writing practice and the larger ways poems can serve our current age and lives: as an invitation to go beyond impasse into more tender, more supple ways of seeing, thinking and feeling; as the testimony and witness of our embodied interconnection and birth-right compassion.
This session will be held under the tent at the beach-side luau grounds. A delicious buffet lunch is included.
The event is sponsored by Engaging the Senses Foundation (ETSF), a non-profit organization based in California, with longtime ties to Hawai‘i. ETSF is an educationally oriented non-profit created to support and sustain people in utilizing their senses — sight, smell, taste, touch, and hearing — to create a consciously-lived life. Its primary emphasis is on “waking up” through the arts, with a particular focus on poetry, the “universal language that the heart holds with nature and itself,” which can fulfill our primal human need for beauty and serve as a portal to mindfulness, inspiration, connection, and transformation.
